Falcon Football 101
Falcon Football strives to make all players into good athletes through practices that focus on learning skills and becoming physically conditioned to play the game. Football is a very physical sport that requires players to be in great physical and mental shape to ensure the safety of both themselves and the other players. Teaching from the skill of proper running to being physically able to play 4 quarters of football in a game takes desire and commitment. It is up to the individual player of how much they put into themselves to become better athletes.
Homework is necessary for players to understand their position, plays and aspects of the game. In addition, conditioning and practicing skills can be done at home with parents, teammates and friends. It is essential that parents get involved to help their child improve and learn the game. It should be fun for parents as well to learn Falcon football. The program is all about the children and parents need to be supportive of their child. Parents must understand that mistakes will be made and improvement is learning from mistakes.
Through positive correction and reinforcement from coaches, teammates and parents, players will grow and excel.
Practices are not optional. Football is a team sports that requires everyone to practice together to prepare for games. Pop Warner requires that every player has 10 hours of conditioning before going into pads and another 10 hours of instruction and drills before scrimmage or game experience. Practices are held in all weather conditions, with the exception of lighting. In severe temperatures of heat additional water breaks are taken to ensure proper hydration. Safety is always our number one priority.
Pop Warner requires that every player participates in every game. The “minimum play rule” applies to every player. A player desiring more play time is based on their dedication to improvement and attitude. The level of effort that the player puts into practice is considered for play time. The Falcon coaches hope that every player wants to be in on every play in each game.
Coaches are trained and dedicated to teaching and preparing the players to play football. Months of preparation go into the program each preseason to ensure that the children are learning from knowledgeable coaches in a positive manner and safe environment.
With all the tools from the coaching staff and commitment from the players, the Falcons will continue with their legacy of excellence. We look forward to another successful Falcon season.
